Lavender, and a House Guest Who Couldn't Sleep
Last week my brother and his wife Julie were in town visiting. Since he lives a few hours away, when he does come to visit we like to make a weekend out of it.
We took them to one of our favorite restaurants, went to an art show, and enjoyed a nice walk along the water near the pier.
After a packed day, it was nice to get back to our home and relax so we'd be refreshed in the morning. Unfortunately, Julie doesn't have the easiest time falling asleep. (It doesn't help that we only have a queen sized bed for them, when they've gotten used to a king at home!)
About an hour and a half after I'd gotten in bed I heard the creak of floorboards outside my room. I found Julie awake, unable to settle in.
"Don't worry," she told me. "Just having a little trouble sleeping. Go back to bed... I'll be okay."
Of course, I knew exactly what to do.
"Wait here," I told her. "I have something for you."
She looked at me, wondering what I had in mind and looked even more surprised when I came back holding a spray bottle.
"What is this," she asked?
"It's a mist with lavender oil. Try a few sprays on your pillow and blanket."
The next morning, Julie told me that less than 10 minutes later she was out like a light. Naturally, I told her how lavender is a great way to support healthy sleep!
Just one more reason I love my lavender.
